Toys to Enjoy

An Interview with Loretta Olsen of Toys to Enjoy.

Toys to Enjoy can be found at Shop 4, Galleria Salamanca, 33 Salamanca Place and also at Stall site 279 Salamanca Market every Saturday .

What’s the name of your business and what do you sell at Salamanca Market?

Toys to Enjoy

I specialize in a large range of wooden toys and toys of yesteryear,
unique gifts and Hobart’s best range of Model Boats)

I am always happy to help customers who are seeking a toy they remember from their childhood.

Tell us a bit more about your products…

We make some items and buy locally where possible. Because of specific requests we search the world to provide our customers with good quality toys. All imported toys are from suppliers who have met the requirements of ACCC regulations.

toystoenjoy12What led you into this business?

My background is in the visual arts, majoring in Fine Arts. The majority of my working life was spent as an illustrator for the Public Service. I started at Salamanca Market when it first opened, I was then selling the pottery that I was producing. As time went by I recognised the need for someone to sell toys and decided to make the change.

toystoenjoy13Why Salamanca?

Salamanca Market has always been attractive to me as I love the atmosphere. I have been lucky enough to visit other markets both in Australia and overseas and have yet to find a better one. I am probably biased because I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by great stallholders.
Each Saturday is a pleasure, you meet old friends and renew acquaintances with people from within Australia and overseas who have been customers for many years. I am now selling to the grandchildren of my first customers.
Many of my online sales come from customers who have good memories of either the shop or the market.

toystoenjoy14Where else do you sell your products?

I sell at the market and at my shop which is located in the Galleria Building at 33 Salamanca Place. The shop was developed as a result of customers asking where they could purchase items during the week.
