An interview with Mary-Jane of Art Viva.
Art Viva can be found at Stall site 298 Salamanca Market every Saturday.
What’s the name of your business and what do you sell?
Art Viva knitting needles and crochet hooks are individually made using Tasmanian Oak timber that is sourced from environmentally sustainable plantations. Art Viva needles and hooks are also known for their signature hand painted bright coloured + white polka dot tops. They are finished with natural organic oils giving a satin smooth feel that is delightful to the touch and use. Sizes range from 3.75mm (US5) through to 25mm (US50) and in a selection of lengths.
Other products include knitting kits; funky knitting needle storage tubes; knitting needle gift sets packed in a funky storage tube and a great range children knitting needles.
What led you into this business?
Mary-Jane and Andrew bought Art Viva (from another Tasmanian couple) in September 2013 and are enjoying building on the product range from their workshops in a beach side town of Tasmania. Mary-Jane was so smitten with her pair of Art Viva knitting needles she had received as a gift, that she convinced husband they could be the new owners of Art Viva.
What do you enjoy most about having a stall at Salamanca Market?
Salamanca attracts people from all over the world and is on many tourists ‘must do’ list on their visit to Tasmania and what better way to show case Art Viva to the world. We love meeting so many creative and friendly customers that visit our stall.
Where else do you sell your products?
